Papé Group Sponsors Pacific Logging Congress’ 7th In the Woods Show

From entertaining product demos, to youth education, and networking, the 2014 Pacific Logging Congress (PLC) was a great success. From Sep. 25 through Sep. 27, the Papé Group was proud to be a bronze sponsor of the Pacific Logging Congress’ 7th In the Woods Show at Port Blakely Tree Farm in Molalla, OR.

“We undertake a live in the woods demo every four years because it provides the PLC and the PFF with a venue to present a ‘science-based’ first impression of forestry to the public,” stated Duane Evans, 2014 Pacific Logging Congress President.

The Pacific Logging Congress holds a longstanding mission of educating the public about sustainable forestry. Now in their 105th year, the PLC has grown from a meeting ground for timber professionals to an organization also committed to youth education. The 7th In the Woods Show now invites both industry leaders as well as students to explore forestry and celebrate the Pacific Northwest’s diverse natural resources.

On the opening night of Sep. 25, Papé exhibited live John Deere equipment demos for PLC members showing off the latest and the greatest forestry technology. The next day, we held a machine maintenance and inspection seminar hosted by Jim Carter, our New Products Engineer and Manager of our Technical Center and Lane Kling, Senior Technical Instructor. Attendants of our seminar earned one Professional Logger Credit which will go toward their Professional Logger’s Certification by the Sustainable Forest Initiative.

On the last night of the In the Woods Show, we hosted a logger education seminar at our booth open to the public. It was a night of great conversation and a growing experience for our teams to meet locals and discuss responsible forestry. The educational and sales demos at the John Deere booth were especially informative and fun to host.

We were certainly busy while we were participating in the In the Woods Show. Papé’s presence stretched wide over the exhibition booths to include all OpCos. It was truly a unique platform for us to connect with our customers and potential customers as they watched demo machines in action.

It was an honor to be surrounded with leading industry professionals and students wanting to learn more about the logging industry as we spent quality time at Port Blakely. If you have any best industry practices to share, follow us on Twitter or Facebook and let us know!
